How to care for your Dublin Black

Proper care is essential to preserve the quality, comfort and appearance of the Dublin Black over time. A traditionally crafted leather shoe requires small, regular gestures to maintain its shape, performance and character.

Dublin Black worn look – Pintta

Dublin Black — care and elegance belong to the same construction.

To ensure a long life for your Dublin Black, it is recommended not to wear the same pair on consecutive days. Leather needs time to recover from the natural moisture produced by the foot during wear.

After each use, allow the shoes to air for a few hours before storing them. It is not necessary to place them outdoors — keeping them out of the wardrobe in a well-ventilated space is sufficient to allow internal moisture to evaporate.

When storing your pair, always use shoe trees to preserve the original shape and prevent deformation. If shoe trees are not available, you may use newspaper inside the shoes, as it is absorbent and easily moulded.

The collar of the Dublin Black features a patent finish and therefore does not require the application of conditioning cream.

For the remaining leathers that cover the entire shoe, we recommend the regular application of a colourless beeswax-based polish. This helps maintain leather flexibility, protects the surface and preserves the natural appearance of the material.

The same colourless wax can also be applied to the leather edges of the sole and heel, helping protect the leather and maintain a refined, uniform finish.

In the case of small scuffs or marks, apply a suitable black leather dye only to the affected area. Allow it to dry completely and then finish with colourless wax to even out the surface.

Leather communicates with time. Whenever its natural sheen begins to fade, it is a clear sign that the leather requires hydration and protection.

With these simple care practices, the Dublin Black will retain its appearance, comfort and character for many years — respecting traditional construction and the quality of the materials used in every Pintta pair.
